The Association of Kootenay and Boundary Local Governments (AKBLG) is the local government association that represents the municipalities and electoral areas of the south-eastern portion of the province of British Columbia. The area includes the Regional Districts of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB), Central Kootenay (RDCK), East Kootenay (RDEK) as well as the Town of Golden and the Village of Valemount.
The AKBLG encompasses three regional districts entirely, and a part of a fourth and fifth that includes 23 electoral areas and 27 municipalities. We are bordered by the Rockies to the east, the Okanagan to the West and the U.S. to the South. Our municipalities range in population from the smallest in the province (Village of Silverton pop. 195) and the smallest city in Canada (Greenwood pop. 665), all the way up to the largest in our area, Cranbrook (20,047). Our region is very rural - Cranbrook is the only AKBLG community with more than 11,000 people.
Join us April 19-21st, 2024 in Radium Hot Springs, BC for the 91st Annual AGM and Convention.
We are excited to be hosted by the Village of Radium Hot Springs for the 2024 convention!
The daytime portion of the convention will be held at the Radium Hot Springs Centre (4863 Stanley St) which only has 25 parking spots*.
Within the Village there are many options for accommodation, many of which are within walking distance of the Centre. In order to best facilitate a shuttling schedule to and from the Centre, as well as the reception and banquet, these accommodation locations have been designated as official shuttle stops:
Delegates who are not staying at these 3 locations should contact the Convention Coordinator, Andrea Tubbs, email@example.com to see if alternate arrangements are possible.
*Accessible parking is available. We ask all delegates to please consider the needs of others when deciding whether to drive to and park at the Centre.
We are looking to completely redesign our website!
